Student life can be tricky to navigate

🎓 My Space Counselling – University Student Counselling in Cornwall (Q&A)

Where is My Space Counselling based for students?

My Space Counselling is conveniently located close to Falmouth University, Exeter University (Penryn Campus), and Truro & Penwith College. This makes it easy for local students to access face-to-face counselling and mental health support. I also work remotely with students across the UK, offering flexible online sessions for those studying elsewhere or living off-campus.

Why might university students need counselling support?

University life is full of opportunities — but it can also bring challenges. Many students in Cornwall and across the UK seek counselling when emotional or psychological difficulties start affecting their studies, social life, or confidence. Counselling provides a safe space to talk, reflect, and find solutions so you can get the most out of university life.

How can counselling help me at university?

Counselling offers confidential emotional support to help you manage stress, anxiety, low mood, or other challenges that may arise during your studies. Together, we explore coping strategies, build confidence, and strengthen your mental resilience, helping you stay focused academically and balanced personally.

What kinds of issues do university students face?

It’s normal to face ups and downs at university. Many students experience:

  • Anxiety about lectures or presentations

  • Worries about managing money or deadlines

  • Feelings of isolation or homesickness

  • Difficulties with motivation or self-confidence

You’re not alone — these are common experiences, and support is available to help you feel grounded and capable again.

Do you work with students who have ADHD or ASD?

Yes. I have many years of experience supporting students with ADHD and/or ASD, helping them navigate the independence, social pressures, and academic demands of student life. My approach is understanding, inclusive, and practical, focusing on strategies for organisation, focus, and self-care.

What does mental wellbeing mean for students?

Your mental health, like physical health, changes over time. Mental wellbeing describes how you feel, how you cope with daily life, and how hopeful you feel about the future. Counselling provides the space to explore what wellbeing means for you personally, helping you build emotional awareness, confidence, and balance.

Can counselling help with stress and anxiety at university?

Absolutely. Stress and anxiety are common student experiences. While short-term pressure can motivate success, prolonged stress can affect both your mental and physical health. Through counselling, you can learn how to reduce stressors, manage anxiety, and create a healthier mindset for long-term wellbeing.

Do you work only with Cornwall students?

No — while I’m based in Cornwall near Falmouth, Penryn, and Truro, I also support students across the UK through secure online sessions. Whether you study locally or elsewhere, you can access confidential, supportive counselling designed to fit your lifestyle and schedule.
